1st Location

All Active Duty Personnel: Tillie K Fowler NROTC Bldg. (Directions Below) 0800-1600 M-F 904-256-7480.

The Unit HR Representative will check you into the unit and provide a check-in sheet. If you arrive after 1600 weekdays, on weekends or holidays, you must check in with the Command Duty Officer (CDO).

2nd Location

(After 1st Location Check-In, Same Day Preferred)

After getting their orders endorsed at the 91×ÔÅÄ NROTC unit, all Active Duty Marines are required to check into I & I Staff at the Marine Corps Reserve Center.

Sailors

After checking in with the JU NROTC Unit, all Active Duty Navy personnel will check in with their personnel records at NS Mayport Personnel Support Detachment (PSD) no later than 1500.

From the JU main entrance, travel North on University Blvd. N until you see "The Legends" apartment complex on your right. The JU entrance to your left will take you to the Tillie K. Fowler NROTC Bldg. You will then see sports fields on your left and on your right, a flagpole with three flags on it. The building under the flagpole is the NROTC Tillie K Fowler Bldg.

College Program and Scholarship Midshipmen Check-In

Unless you are a Midshipman that is transferring from another NROTC Unit, you will be attending a Fall Semester Check-in and are required to attend the NROTC Orientation & Indoctrination (O & I) held each August. All uniforms for both Scholarship and College Program Midshipmen will be issued by the NROTC Unit Supply during O & I. Check into the JU NROTC Unit with the unit HR Representative 0800-1600 M-F. By Air

91×ÔÅÄ International Airport is just 25 minutes from the JU campus.

Traveling South on I-95 or from the Airport

Take 295E Southbound across the St. Johns River to Merrill Road.
Exit on Merrill Road access road and turn right (west) on Merrill Road.
JU campus entrance is at the end of Merrill Road at intersection with University Boulevard.

Traveling East on I-10

Merge with I-95 North.
Exit onto Union Street heading east.
Cross St. Johns River on the Mathews Bridge. Road becomes Arlington Expressway.
The first exit after crossing the bridge is for University Boulevard.
Drive under the University Boulevard overpass and immediately bear right to exit onto University Boulevard North.
At intersection of University Boulevard and Merrill Road, turn left into JU entrance road.

Traveling North on I-95

Take 295E Northbound to Merrill Road.
Exit on Merrill Road turn left (west) on Merrill Road.
JU campus entrance is at the end of Merrill Road at intersection with University Boulevard.

JUNROTC Housing Options

Midshipmen/College Program

As a residential campus, 91×ÔÅÄ requires all first-year students, with a few exceptions, to live on campus. Learn about housing options.

OC/MECEP

As an OC/MECEP attending JUNROTC, you rate BAH (Zip 32211). Most use this to find an apartment to their liking near JU/UNF.

You may apply for base housing at NS Mayport or NAS 91×ÔÅÄ (info below), but few OC’s/MECEP’s actually use this method to establish themselves here. This may be due to the large selection of apartment complexes near JU/UNF.

Apartment Location Considerations

• Most are dissatisfied with the traffic/45min+ drive time from the Orange Park/Blanding/103rd area.
• Traffic is also a negative factor on Southside Blvd, South of JTB.
• You will travel to JU 2-7x/week depending on semester scheduling. This will occur even if you attend UNF, and will usually be early in the morning (PT is 0530-0700).

Naval Hospital 91×ÔÅÄ

Located aboard NAS 91×ÔÅÄ, the Naval Hospital is a general medical and surgical hospital offering both impatient and outpatient care. The hospital also has the Navy's largest Family Practice Training Program. The hospital is fully accredited by the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Health Care Organizations (JCAHO). Accreditation is a professional recognition for health care facilities that is an indicator of high-quality health care.

The hospital staff on board NAS 91×ÔÅÄ provide most of the general specialties including family practice, internal medicine, surgery, obstetrics, gynecology, psychiatry, radiology, ophthalmology, urology, pediatrics, ear nose and throat, neurology, and orthopedic.
